The body has 7 major energy centers called chakras.
The lowest at the base of your spine, the Root Chakra, and the highest at the top of your head, the Crown Chakra.
{Actually there are more than this but most of us will only ever need to consciously work with these main 7.}
It’s important that all chakras are aligned and balanced. But often there are one or two that need particular attention
The guidance this week specifically mentions the heart chakra
“Stay connected to the heart chakra”
which is more specific than the usual…
“Stay in heart energy.”
The heart chakra is the center of LOVE, BALANCE, and CONNECTION.
Located right in the center of the chest in the heart region, the heart chakra is associated with the color green and the element of air.
This chakra is responsible for regulating the energy associated with SELF-ACCEPTANCE, SELF-LOVE, COMPASSION, openness, and unconditional love of others.
Being guided to focus on the heart chakra, specifically, means that we (the collective) are potenially shutting down/ closing our hearts in such a way that we run the risk of it collapsing upon itself.

Beyond simply being loving and kind. We must actively engage in working to clear and expand that heart energy.
Attention is also being brought to the root chakra, at the base of the spine.
We can see how the two – root and heart, could work together to either increase or decrease our sense of well being.
{Depending on if they are are clear, balanced & flowing, or blocked, out of balance & working against each other.}
When we are grounded at our base (root) and filtering all things through the heart,
we know that we are safe,
our intuition is clear and expanded,
and we trust ourselves to make the right decisions.
This is a state of being that is well worth the effort and the practice.
Balancing and opening the heart CHAKRA can take time but it is time well spent.
Open your heart.

There are many things we can do to clear, balance, open, and connect to our heart chakra. Such as…
- practice GRATITUDE
- YAM
This sound matches the vibration of the heart chakra. Say out loud, as if singing or humming the word. Drawing out the letters into sounds
“yyyyyyaaaaaammmmmm.”
Allow your mouth to match the sound with exaggerated expression.
For instance, on the “aaa” your mouth should be fully open.
On the “mmmm” the lips should be gently together and the vibrations from your chest to throat to lips should make them vibrate and tingle slightly. - Mantras – such as “I am love”
- BREATHE
As the heart chakra is ruled by the element of air, the breath is vital.
Most people are accustomed to shallow breathing, which is actually unnatural and unhealthy. Slow it down and practice deep, intentional breathing.
Consider trying the pranayama techniques of alternate nostril breathing. - SMILE
Purposeful smiling (checking in with your facial expressions throughout the day. Smiling while simultaneously connecting with the heart and its “love”) - Time in nature
- Meditation – loving kindness meditation or other guided heart centered meditations
