Love at its best
“… you have to have this sense of faith that
what you’re moving toward is already done.

We are a circle of one.”
“in the bosom of every human being, there is a spark of the divine. So you don’t have a right as a human to abuse that spark of the divine in your fellow human being.”
I listened to this interview yesterday.
WOW! It was so moving.
He talks about love throughout… about visualizing the life and world you want… living as though it already exists… and how love is more than a romantic notion.
All the things I strive for in my own life and in the “work”. To help others to understand this truth and that it is beautiful and difficult…
The essence of this love resonates so completely & naturally from John Lewis.
That and how he implemented it in the civil rights movement. What he saw, what he experienced, what he knew… and yet he never wavered from that place of love.
He is inspirational.
“…love is very rich and multilayered and also challenging,
challenging for the person who loves.
I think in our culture, sometimes people are afraid to say I love you.
we’re afraid to say, especially in public life, many elected officials or worldly elected officials, are afraid to talk about love.
Maybe people tend to think something is so emotional about it.
Maybe it’s a sign of weakness. And we’re not supposed to cry.
We’re supposed to be strong,
but love is strong.
Love is powerful.
The {civil rights} movement created what I like to call a nonviolent revolution.
It was love at its best.
It’s one of the highest form of love…
That you beat me, you arrest me, you take me to jail, you almost kill me,
but in spite of that, I’m going to still love you.
I know Dr. King used to joke sometime and say things like,
“Just love the hell outta everybody. Just love ’em.”
~ John Lewis – congressman and civil rights legend. On March 7, 1965, John Lewis led a peaceful march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma — and was one of the first to be beaten unconscious by police. That day became infamous as Bloody Sunday.
