The ANCESTORS & Our ancestry

“I am the gifts of The Ancestors,
Past and future,
Come together in this moment.
Unique.
Unburdened.
Limitless.”

We are all the ancestors behind us and before us,
Come together in the present moment.

The ancestors are our teachers, our protectors…
our mirrors, extensions of the self…
We have inherited their experiences
But we are not to be limited by these inheritances.
The Ancestors are a part of The Now that we represent
but they are not the whole of it, and
they are not to control or limit us.
They have helped to guide us here,
that we can put our unique imprint on the lineage.

Though ancestry informs and influences us,
it does not, exclusively, define us.
Though it has brought us to this lifetime,
we are not obligated to reinforce or carry forward all aspects.

The wounds and “the sins” of The Ancestors are theirs.
It is not our obligation nor our right to carry them forward or pass them on.

Part of the path is honoring and accepting family and ancestry
so that we are neither severed from it nor controlled by it.
Acceptance of what was. Acceptance of what is.
Gratitude
for the obstacles overcome, lessons learned, wisdom gained…
reinforces a strength and depth of understanding that can be called upon at any time.

Our responsibility, as the living bridgeof our ancestors – past and future,
is to live our unique journey with integrity and purpose,
to build upon their gifts through the expansion of our own,
to add the wisdom of our experience to the great ancestral cauldron…

There is an ancestral resonance within us.
We connect with the ancestors through this shared resonance.
This, too, is how we call upon them.
Finding them within our own being
– not just a shared DNA but a shared consciousness.

If we are all connected (and, of course, we are)
then this application is limitless. Our ancestors are limitless.
No longer limited by bloodlines,
there are no boundaries preventing us from accessing the wisdom and gifts of our interconnection.  

As well,
Every place where we reside has an ancestral connection.
The land itself – even the vast open spaces, has its own powerful ancestry.
The “Spirits of the Land” must be recognized, respected, and honored,
especially in the places where we live and hold ceremony.

THIS WEEK
Connect with the ancestry within
And with the ancestry of the land upon which you reside.

Connect with The Spirits of the Land
the history of the region and its influences upon you.
* Give an offering of gratitude and respect

Consider your ancestral DNA
– the gifts and the wounds.
There is much to be carried forward
Much to be built upon
And much to be left behind.

With love, compassion and empathy,
acceptance and forgiveness,
connect with the energy of your lineage.
(You may choose to utilize inherited items, for they have a tangible energetic imprint.)
Look deeply, feeling the resonance of your spirit as it engages with this connection.
Honor any emotions that arise.
Honor any guilt, shame, pride…
Those bring the opportunity to heal and release,
to choose what will be carried forward
and what will be put to rest.

* Make a prayer
to those who came before, to those of today, and to those yet to come.
Thanking them for their journey.
Make the commitment
to yourself and The Ancestors
to walk the path with integrity and purpose.

Move forward,
anchored in your personal power
free from the burdens of the ancestors’ past.
