WINTER week 5

SACRED GEOGRAPHY & SACRED SPACES

All around the world, in every community, to every person
there are places both in nature and man-made that are special.
Places that resonate differently
…where something about them just feels different.
Places that visually and energetically take your breathe away.

Many people believe that a grid of hightened electromagnetic earth energies circles the globe, connecting important and sacred sites.
If you plot these and other sites on a map, a curious thing becomes apparent:
Many of them can be connected by straight lines.
These straight alignments drawn between various historic structures and prominent landmarks are called “LEY LINES”. 

The Ley Lines and places of power on the earth
each have their own unique vibrational imprint.
They are individual yet connected to the whole.
They are like energy roads connecting sacred geographical places.
They have called to humans throughout time.
Calling to us to build our ancient sacred sites upon them

Ley currents can fluctuate and reverse direction.
They can alter course and send out tributaries.
They influence and impact humans.
They are powerful and one should have the utmost respect when intentionally connecting.

These power places remind us that we are more than just a physical body
working day in and day out to fulfill some societal dictation of what living means.
They remind us that we are connected in a deep way to this planet,
and that we can FEEL her presence if we pause and connect
They remind us that we are energetic beings,
engaging in energetic exchanges on multiple levels, with multiple realms
every moment of every day.

Sacred spaces are created and enhanced
when we establish relationship with them, and build upon that relationship.
Long before there were religions,
human spirituality was connected to the land – the heavens and the earth.
Early people wandered over large areas of land.
In tune with the earth, they occasionally discovered certain places of power.
Some of these places– such as Shiprock or Uluru, had a natural formation marking them, or were visually stunning or significant in other ways.
Many had no remarkable visual appearance.
Yet all had a mysterious power, a numinosity, and a spirit.

Because of these qualities,
ancient peoples began to mark these magical places in different ways, often with piles of stones, so that they might be seen from a distance if other humans passed that way in years to come.
With the continuing seasonal movements of the animal herds, the early nomads moved too,
gradually discovering more and more power places on the living earth.

Overtime, connections to these places deepened,
more elaborate markers were built, temples were erected…
pilgrimages, festivals, and ritual unfolded…
all enhancing the power and sacredness of these sights.  

This week,
find your own natural place of resonance in your area.

This could be in the garden, by a lake or stream, a spot along your favorite hiking trail, a horse pasture…
Spend time there. Bring an offering.
Connect with the feeling of that place.

Be still. Be quiet.
Be receptive to the energy that calls you there, and to the insights that may come.
See it.
How it looks within this season of winter.

Make the commitment to spend deep connecting time there in each season of the year.
To see its changing façade.
To feel its energy – the shifting energies throughout the year, as well as the steady undercurrent.

As you spend more and more time,
see if you can discern the energy of that place and the its greater, global connections.
Think about the energetic exchanges you have there.
What is it that draws you?
Does it make you feel more complete? More at peace? More grounded? …

This week, too,
honor the scared spaces in your home.
If you don’t have one, create one.

Finally,
If there is a sacred space – such as a temple, that you feel drawn to.
Try to plan a visit. To honor it and connect. 
OR
make a list of the sacred places around the world that you would like to visit.
Connect with their energy by reading about them and looking at pictures.
Perhaps you might even decide to put a plan in motion to make a visit – even if it is simply the intention of visiting “some day”
