As we move into the holidays
and begin the transition towards the new year
… a period of closure and “new beginnings” within the ever-unfolding cycle of death & rebirth…
We must consciously remind ourselves that, even in the best of years, this is always an exhausting, emotionally charged time that brings many challenges.

This year, of course, we add to this
the pre-existing physical & emotional exhaustion, worry, anxiety, stress, fear…
that the pandemic, and the economic, social & political climates have helped to create
in a way we’ve not experienced before, particularly in the United States.

One of the best tools we can use during this time is writing/journaling.
This,
along with intentional disengagement from the outside world,
is tremendously beneficial in moving the stress out and clearing the way for balance and peace.

This can be anything from formal writing – perhaps guided by prompts,
to the very informal, free-flowing stream of consciousness writing.
(Remember, this is for you. It never needs to be shared. It’s not subject to anyone’s approval and certainly isn’t going to be graded)

What is suggested is that the tool be used to STEP INTO
emotions, experiences, repetitive thoughts…
and WALK THROUGH to the other side,
And be concluded WITH a GRATITUDE practice.

The work of writing brings replenishment even when dealing with painful subjects or overwhelming problems.
Many times the only open path through suffering is immersion.

Difficulty then,
whether in life,
or in understanding or in expression
is not a hindrance
when we seek to engage it.

Immersion
… intentional, deep engagement…
is opportunity and forward movement and a growing into one’s self.

Opens a path through and to
the other side.
Bringing release, relief, clarity,
and the space for joy.
